Yoga wear

Yoga is an ancient practice of spirituality practiced for centuries in the caves and forests of India. It has many healing effects on the body and mind. Regular practice has been proven to bestow upon its practitioner a sound and healthy body with an alert mind. It apparently also increases your memory power. Due to such positive benefits, Yoga is being practiced in homes around the world.

In its ancient form, Yoga does not require one to wear any particular type of clothing, certain types of ‘Yoga wear’ have been invented for the modern Yogi (a person practicing Yoga). Yoga requires one to bend and stretch in various difficult positions; hence wearing comfortable clothing helps the Yogi to achieve success without any difficulty. Thus, when out purchasing yoga clothes the most important thing to keep in mind is comfort.

Being an ancient spiritual art form, the making of clothes to be worn during Yoga is made using a certain special type of stitching. These clothes are manufactured only by tradesmen who are dedicated to the practice of Yoga. A serious practitioner of Yoga must seek out these people to buy authentic Yoga wear.

Modern Yoga wear is made with the comfort of the practitioner in mind; hence two different types of cloth are manufactured. One for the summer season and one for the colder winter season. The ones for the winter are heavier and keep the body warm. The ones made for the summer are light and thus keep the practioners’ body cool.

The various types of Yoga wear that are worn by the Yoga practioners in the east are as follows:

1) Jubons

2) Kimonos

3) Meditation robes

4) Sitting jackets

5) Sitting pants

These clothes have western versions as well. They have been adapted thus in order to keep in sync with the different cultural and climatic conditions in the west.

Although most Yoga clothes come at relatively cheap prices, one may occasionally find some pricey ones. While going out to buy Yoga clothes make sure you keep in mind how you will dry the cloth after washing. You should be able to dry it on a clothes line, or on the low temperature of your radiator. They must be made of 100 percent pre shrunk cotton.

Having the right clothing, with regular practice you will find yourself transformed into a much calmer, relaxed and peaceful person.
